One of my goals for 2011 is to increase sales (by a lot) and earn $500 in profit.

As an unemployed teacher, I have spent many a minute with students and goal setting. Particularly, there is a technique called SMART goals.

S - Specific
M - Measurable
A - Attainable
R- Realistic
T- Timely

In my efforts to increase Etsy sales, I am going to develop a SMART goal, and an action plan. My goal to earn $500 in one year on Etsy is not only specific and measurable, but attainable (I believe). It works out to being just over $40 a month.

In order to measure the goal, and see progress I have created an Excel spread sheet. It calculates my over all profit by including the price of the item, the purchase cost, the shipping paid and then the actual shipping cost (often my shipping costs are more $ than what I charge). All of this then creates my "profit margin".  I also include the cost of my hunts.

Current: $36.50/500 = $463.50
